Andrew Barker, Managing Director, Skipton Financial Services.
"At the heart of Skipton Financial Services is a commitment to exceeding the expectations of our clients."
NAHT Personal Financial Services is provided by our specialist partner Skipton Financial Services (SFS). One of the UK's largest financial advisory organisations, SFS offers no-obligation, personalised financial advice to help you realise your aspirations.
It's quite natural to dream of achieving a better life for ourselves and our loved ones, but finding the right path towards accomplishing those objectives can be difficult without the right guidance and support.
That's where SFS can make a difference to your future. After first taking the time to understand your individual circumstances and financial objectives, they can research and recommend from a wide range of investment products from across the market. With no-obligation to act upon this advice.
The advice service
SFS's advice service is primarily limited to investment planning and falls under the category of 'Restricted' under the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) rules. Nevertheless, they consider a very wide range of Unit Trusts, OEICs and Life Funds of UK authorised Fund Management Groups and Life Offices together with a more focused panel of Structured Products and Structured Deposits in constructing their 'Preferred Product Range'.
In constructing their Preferred Product Range, they typically have access to:
- Over 3,000 Unit Trusts and OEICs
- Investment Bonds from 12 UK Life Offices
- Structured Capital at Risk products from six providers
- Pension policies from eight providers
- Structured Deposits and deposit accounts from Skipton Building Society
- Life Assurance, Income Protection and Critical Illness policies from 20 providers.
SFS's advised service is available to anyone with over £10k to invest – you don't need to have a large amount of savings and investments to benefit from face-to-face guidance you can understand, value and trust.
Whatever your financial objectives, SFS can help you assess your options and offer advice which you can understand, value and trust
In view of the fact the investments SFS recommends are likely to include equity-linked products – which are not like bank or building society accounts, as the capital value and any income can rise and fall and your capital is at risk – they will only offer advice and make recommendations after taking the time to help you understand your attitude to investment risk and reward.
It's vital that you feel comfortable with the manner in which your money might be invested, and that you fully appreciate the potential benefits and risks. SFS won't recommend anything that you are not entirely comfortable with, so you can be assured that your best interests will always be at the forefront of any recommendations they make.
Our mutual heritage
SFS was formed in 1988 – and is a wholly owned subsidiary of Skipton Building Society (SBS). Established in 1853, SBS has been helping generations of members with their financial needs – predominantly mortgages and savings. Today it is the UK's 4th largest building society.
SBS's mutual ethos of putting members' needs first is also at the heart of SFS business. They have over 139,000 clients nationally and because of their outstanding reputation for looking after their clients, they are entrusted with placing investments worth over £4.2bn.
